    Islamic Studies Network

The Islamic Studies Network brings together those working in Islamic Studies from a wide range of disciplines to enhance teaching and learning in UK higher education.

Islamic Studies is an umbrella term for the academic study of Islam, Muslim cultures and societies and Islamic knowledge through a variety of subject areas and perspectives.

We provide opportunities for academics and students to network and share practice through eventsproject grants and publications.  We also encourage the development and sharing of a wide range of resources relevant to research and teaching in Islamic Studies. You can keep up to date with our activities by reading the latest news on our website or by joining the Network.

Call for Papers - Perspectives: Teaching Islamic Studies in higher education

Perspectives is the Islamic Studies Network’s biannual publication. It is a forum for the exchange of ideas and good practice in teaching and learning in Islamic Studies and related subjects.
It includes highlights of exciting new resources that have been developed for Islamic Studies, articles on teaching and learning written by colleagues in the sector and reviews of books for undergraduate and postgraduate use.
The fourth edition will be published in June 2012. For the next issue, the editorial board still welcomes contributions on collaboration between Islamic institutions and publically-funded universities or on collaborations between UK and international institutions until 31 January 2012 for final submission of articles on 10 February 2012.

If you would like to contribute to Perspectives by writing an article, highlighting teaching resources you have used or developed, or writing a review of a book, film or other media, please contact the Editor Erika Corradini (e.corradini@soton.ac.uk).

Hard copies of Perspectives are distributed free of charge to Islamic Studies Network members at publicly funded UK HEIs, it is also available online. To ensure you receive a hard copy, please join the Network.
